NEW Opportunity!

"A sign-on letter created by Senator Tammy Baldwin would provide vital access to care for individuals affected by eating disorders! This letter, addressed to Secretary Sebelius of the US Department of Health and Human Services, clarifies rules in the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA). The new wording would state that insurance companies cannot deny coverage for eating disorders and cannot limit coverage any more restrictively than they do for medical and surgical benefits.  This letter promotes a critical change in the way that insurance covers the treatment of eating disorders!  Your Senators need to hear from you!  Take action here."

Schedule a Presentation with EDRC

As a part of our educational and awareness efforts, EDRC works with a bureau of over 30 professional speakers from Stanford, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, and local treatment centers to provide free, 60-90 minute presentations on a variety of topics related to eating disorders (EDs). Topics may include EDs and co-morbidity, EDs and considerations among athletes, EDs and adolescents, differences between male and female populations, cultural considerations, EDs and pregancy, overcoming myths and identifying signs/symptoms of EDs, and how to help a friend or loved one. We also provide Ask-the-Expert panel discussions for audience Q&A. EDRC conveniently arranges presentations to your workplace's location, timeframe and target audience. We work most commonly with healthcare professionals (eg. physicians, dentists, obgyns), non-profit organizations, and schools.

“Thank you to EDRC and Dr. Sarah Forsberg for the informative presentation on eating disorders. The area of eating disorders is often neglected, due to a lack of accessible information. This often results in a lack of confidence among clinicians in even approaching the topic. Staff commented that they are more confident in their ability to address this area of treatment.”
--Christie Pfalzgraf, Alum Rock Counseling Center Supervisor
