As a part of our educational and awareness efforts, EDRC works with a bureau of over 30 professional speakers from Stanford, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, and local treatment centers to provide free, 60-90 minute presentations on a variety of topics related to eating disorders (EDs). Topics may include EDs and co-morbidity, EDs and considerations among athletes, EDs and adolescents, differences between male and female populations, cultural considerations, EDs and pregancy, overcoming myths and identifying signs/symptoms of EDs, and how to help a friend or loved one. We also provide Ask-the-Expert panel discussions for audience Q&A. EDRC conveniently arranges presentations to your workplace's location, timeframe and target audience. We work most commonly with healthcare professionals (eg. physicians, dentists, obgyns), non-profit organizations, and schools. “Thank you to EDRC and Dr. Sarah Forsberg for the informative presentation on eating disorders. The area of eating disorders is often neglected, due to a lack of accessible information. This often results in a lack of confidence among clinicians in even approaching the topic. Staff commented that they are more confident in their ability to address this area of treatment.” |
