EDRC Announces 2011 Essay Contest for Students

January 2011 - In recognition of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, the Eating Disorders Resource Center (EDRC) is having our second annual Every Body’s Beautiful essay contest for middle and high school students.  We invite all 6th – 12th grade boys and girls in Silicon Valley to share their stories about what is beautiful about them.  Essays submitted by middle school students and essays submitted by high school students will be reviewed separately and the top three essays from each category will win cash prizes of up to $300!  Please see the contest flyer for format requirements. The deadline to submit an essay is Friday, February 11th.

Last year, 183 students from 25 schools throughout Silicon Valley participated in the essay contest.  The top winners were awarded cash prizes at their school in front of their peers and teachers.  Students who participated in the essay contest were given the opportunity to model in our Every Body’s Beautiful Fashion Event.  In preparation for the event, students were video taped sharing their essays.  Thank you Kaiser San Jose for sponsoring this important project.
