EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I trained at Duke University, University of Virginia School of Medicine and did both my adult residency and pediatric psychiatry fellowship at Stanford. I have training in insight-oriented individual therapy for Eating Disorders. I am also certified in Family Based Therapy for Eating Disorders.

TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: My goal is to get to know my patients very well, and when possible, to work with the family in a collaborative way. I take a non-judgmental stance and believe that generally parents want the best for their children and are an important part of recovery. I also work collaboratively with the patient's physician to ensure safety.
Yes I believe it is possible to recover from an eating disorder and I define recovery as: I have seen and helped many patients recover completely from their Eating Disorder. I believe recovery involves not only maintaining a healthy weight and resuming/starting menses (for girls), but also being healthy psychologically. I think this is entirely possible and it's reasonable to go for complete cure.
