EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERTISE: I focused my graduate education on body image, sexuality, and disordered eating. I completed my Master's degree in 2001 from Prescott College and have extensive work with teens and children in the communities of Monterey, King City, Palo Alto, and Los altos. My expertise is body image, eating disorders, and child therapy. In addition, I have extensive knowledge and experience working with perfectionism.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY: I believe treatment is a partnership in which a relationship between clients and myself is the foundation for growth. I individualize treatment for each individual because I believe we are each unique and deserve to be treated as so. I utilize several treatment approaches and strive for authenticity between clients, parents, and myself.
Yes, I feel you can recover from an eating disorder and I define recovery as: I believe it is possible to BE IN recovery from an eating disorder, but that we must remain diligent in self-care in order to propel continued health. New patterns and thoughts are essential to the recovery process and I believe that with treatment and support individuals can overcome the obstacles they face, however, I also believe that it is a life-long process because we life in a community with many influences and experiences.
